For my foray into LEGO mosaics (two dimensional pictures created using LEGO) I chose to depict Edda van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston (1929-1993), also known as Audrey Hepburn. Based on the Richard Avedon photograph used in the film Funny Face, and with the aid of Eric Harshbarger's Pixelego program, I was able to capture her profound beauty in a simple (and practical, due to my limited supply of plates) manner. I used 4 colours: black, white, and two shades of grey. Approximately, the "canvas" measures 2 1/2 by 3 feet, and is 2 studs thick. I'll admit it was a rather brainless build (follow the mapped out image), but it was fun to step back and see it come together. If anything, I learned some useful techniques on how to make cute curves and subtle shading out of LEGO. |
